CTS Training Award/Scholarship benefits

Two scholarships are available for the CTS program: CTS tuition scholarship and CTS stipend scholarship.

CTS Tuition Scholarship

  • Tuition fee scholarship for both full-time and part-time students (approximately $9,160).

CTS Stipend Scholarship

  • Living allowance/stipend scholarship for full time students only, paid at the APA(Industry) rate of $26,669 p.a. (2009 rate)


Step 1 - Check Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be an enrolled higher degree by research (HDR) student;
  • have completed the confirmation of candidature process
  • be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or Australian Permanent Resident; and
  • not have previously completed an equivalent training course.
  • be willing to intermit their HDR candidature for the period (4 months) of the CTS program (full time CTS applicants only)

NOTE:

  1. Students who fail to complete CTS training within 24 months from the date of commencement (plus any periods of suspension or approved leave) are ineligible to receive further support under the CTS program.>
  2. Where approved by the Monash University Research Graduate School Committee a CTS awardee may be permitted to complete CTS training while his/her thesis is being examined, provided that no more than three months of full-time (or equivalent part-time study) is required to complete the CTS program.

Step 2 - Application Procedures

  1. Prior to submitting an application for the CTS training award, applicants must consult with their supervisor/s.
  2. Faculties will submit a ranked list of CTS training award applicants to a Research Graduate School Committee (RGSC) central selection committee.
  3. The final list of successful scholarship awardees will be jointly approved by the RGSC/CTS central selection committee and the course provider.
  4. Successful applicants will be notified by the Monash Research Graduate School (MRGS).

NOTE: A separate intermission from HDR candidature form is not required.

Step 4 - Selection Criteria Information

Priority will be given to:

  • postgraduate research students who intend to undertake the CTS training award program full-time. Successful applicants will therefore be required to intermit their higher degree by research candidature to enrol in the Graduate Certificate.
  • applicants who can demonstrate that they will have the best prospects of pursuing a career that will utilise the skills, knowledge and experience gained through CTS training
  • applicants whose progress in their research candidature will not be unduly compromised or adversely affected if they undertake CTS training.
  • Applicants wishing to maintain their HDR enrolment and undertake the course part-time (one unit per semester over two years) will also be considered.
