Faculty Workshop: Remaining Requirements

If you attended a workshop run by a faculty, please contact the organiser in the faculty for details of the modules that need to be completed.

Completion of Module 8: Examination Advisory Panel

Attendance at an examination advisory panel is a requirement of Module 8: Examination Process. An examination advisory panel is convened within the faculty subsequent to receipt of doctoral examiners' reports where there is a discrepancy between examiner recommendations, where one or both examiners have recommended revision and resubmission, or where there is another problem. It is not to be confused with the confirmation of candidature panel.

Some faculty workshops cover this component. The MRGS workshop does not, so you will need to either attend a mock advisory panel (2 hour seminar), or an actual examination advisory panel in the faculty. MRGS holds mock panels several times per year.

Please register your name on the advisory panel waitlist, and we will contact you when an actual or mock advisory panel is convened.

Completion of Level 1

Once the program has been completed and the signed Application form for Level 1 accreditation returned to the Monash Research Graduate School, a certificate of accreditation will be signed by the Deputy Chairman of the Research Graduate School Committee. A central record is held in MRGS of all supervisors accredited through this program.

Please note that completion of a doctoral degree is normally required by the Monash Research Graduate School for accreditation as a main research supervisor of doctoral candidates. Some faculties, schools, departments, or centres may have additional training requirements for accreditation as a supervisor of doctoral candidates in their academic unit.

Completing the module forms

If you attended an MRGS or faculty workshop, you do not need to obtain signatures for all the elements covered at the workshop. All you need to do is indicate the date/s of the workshop so that we can cross-reference this with our records. Similarly, if you attended the MRGS mock advisory panel, we do not require a signature, just the date. Please indicate your title, name and academic unit so that we can record your accreditation correctly.
