exPERT Categories

The program is organised into the following categories:

  • exPERT General

    These seminars and workshops offer students general training and information in a wide range of areas including those related to the successful and timely completion of candidature, stress and relationship management.

  • exPERT Information Technology

    This hands-on workshop program consists of approximately 50 three hour computer lab-based workshops. The program allows students to improve their skill levels in the use of popular software packages such as EndNote, PowerPoint and Word.

    Important Note

    exPERT IT sessions are open for bookings approximately six weeks prior to the scheduled session date. A link to a table with session opening dates is below.

  • exPERT Statistics

    The exPERT statistics seminar program consists of a minimum of 13 two hour seminars that explain various statistical methods, concepts and software packages.

    The seminars are presented by members of Monash's Statistical Consulting Service, and postgraduate research students are also entitled to 10 hours of consulting time at no charge.

  • Introduction to Intellectual Property

    The Monash Research Graduate School, in association with Monash Research Commercialisation will run Introduction to Intellectual Property seminars throughout the year - approximately once a month. Lawyers from some of Melbourne's best known legal firms with Intellectual Property expertise will be in attendance.

    Topics includes IP basics, university's statute and regulations, assignment and licencing, copyright, patents and commercialisation.
  • exPERT Teaching

    The teaching program is a new and exciting initiative aimed at providing postgraduate research students with practical training on how to run successful tutorials and lectures.

  • exPERT Writing Skills

The writing skills program consists of seven related workshops aimed at honing your writing skills. Topics covered include editing, writing abstracts, and making your thesis more readable.

  • exPERT Employment Skills

This series is aimed at final years students as they move towards employment. The series aims to increase awareness among postgraduate research students of the skills and attributes they already possess, raise awareness of skill development programs, and career options both short and long term.

  • exPERT Replay

    This very popular initiative allows students to view pre recorded exPERT seminars (DVDs) in small groups. The DVDs are also available for loan from the Library.
